SOC / ANT / BLS / LTS 3035 · The Remaking of New York: The Immigrant Experience
This course examines immigration and New York City, past, present, and future. Topics covered include the intersectionof immigration with economics, including entrepreneurialenterprises, as well as religion, race, gender, and ethnicity. The course examines the social, economic, and political structures of immigrant communities, the impact of successive waves of newcomers on urban culture, and the continuing debates over immigrant incorporation and Americanization.
